California Law Office Study (LOS) Program students can now participate in the Certified Law Student (CLS) Program alongside JD and LLM students.

Operationally, there are several benefits to this program. One being that it could allow overloaded attorneys to systematically delegate depositions, client negotiations, and court appearances (under supervision) to a Certified Law Student.

Law Office Study Program students are unique, because they are usually gaining practical, hands-on training while they are studying law.  When the LOS and the CSL Programs are combined, instead of waiting until someone passes the bar exam to bring them in, a firm can train on their exact processes and expectations early on. By the time these students take the bar, they already know how the firm operates day-to-day.

This could keep senior attorneys focused on high-level work, cut down on expensive hiring cycles, and build a solid team from the ground up.
